THE MIRACLE IN THE DESERT

Modern day Dubai is a cosmopolitan international city without equal. A key trading gateway, it’s a burgeoning metropolis with an optimistic attitude and a social calendar that never stops. With a diversified economy located midway between Europe and the Far East, Dubai has enjoyed year-on-year record growth and is now regarded as the region’s premier commercial hub, evidenced by the large numbers of private and multi-national companies that have flocked to the Emirate. Dubai’s GDP is anticipated to reach AED 247,305 million by 2010, representing an annual growth rate of 15%, and the city presently leads the way in population growth worldwide, which is expected to increase from 1.4 million to 2.3 million in the same period.

Tourism in the Emirate is also at an all time high, and is earmarked for significant growth in the near future, as the number of five star hotels is set to increase by some 40% over the next few years. Dubai’s Government has outlined an ambitious plan that aims to attract 15 million tourists to the Emirate every year, placing Dubai among the world’s leading tourist destinations and an ideal location for business.
